OUTDOOR
At WILDING FILM, our passion for filmmaking is rooted in the landscapes that surround us and the vital role of the natural environment. We are always looking for the opportunity to make films which serve as a reminder of the connection between people and the world around us.
The Journey North
This is a short film created for Wildland while working with our friends at Rural Studio. Wildland are the custodians of three Scottish country estates and run one of Scotland’s largest conservation projects.
The film documents the journey north via Lairg, along Scotland’s north coast and back down the northeast coast. It celebrates Sutherland’s natural beauty and the independent businesses and creatives that make this part of Scotland so special.

The Last Ski Maker in Scotland
A Wilding Film production The Last Ski Maker in Scotland was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick and was a finalist at the prestigious Banff, Kendal and Wild & Scenic Film Festivals.
The uncertain future of skiing in Scotland has inspired Jamie Kunka to make sustainable skis out of wood. Based in his cabin in the Scottish Highlands, Jamie is the last ski maker in Scotland. Jamie began teaching himself how to make his wooden skis after watching a Vimeo Staff Pick by Wyatt Visuals about a wooden-surfboard maker in Vancouver Island, Canada. Ten years on, The Last Ski Maker in Scotland is part homage to this original film and part a celebration of the power of film to inspire us all.

The Mountains Are Calling
Short film created for The John Muir Trust during the early weeks of lockdown due to Covid-19. The short film which asks six walkers, runners and climbers to recall a special day in the hills. The film was made entirely during lockdown and hopes to inspire others to take direct action for wild places and join the Trust as a member, as we look ahead to meet environmental challenges under a ‘new normal’.
We spoke to poet, runner and climber Helen Mort, mountaineers Alan Hinkes and Tom Livingstone, Mountain Leader and Ramblers Scotland President Lucy Wallace, and owners of the Walkhighlands website Helen and Paul Webster. This is a short, fun and emotive film, with each mountaineer remembering fondly what makes wild places so vital and important for them.
